(OS1) Certified Coaches
We certify individuals who have been selected by their organization to be responsible for the (OS1) training of their cleaning workers. An (OS1) Coach is required to take part in a semi-annual, in-service (OS1) Train the Trainer program that is designed to keep them up to date on the most current cleaning procedures, chemicals and cleaning tools, training techniques, and new information in the (OS1) Program. It is required that they attend both of these classes on an annual basis, in order to maintain their (OS1) Certified Coach status. This group includes individuals from all different types of organizations (in-house, BSC’s, K-12 Schools, Colleges and Universities, etc) around the United States. They are collectively known in the (OS1) World as the Cleaning Industry Trainer’s Guild.
(OS1) Cleaning Team Specialists
(OS1) is based on the Team Cleaning concept. Certification of the cleaning workers is done within an organization by the (OS1) Certified Coach. Cleaning workers first complete (OS1) Boot Camp, (initial (OS1) training), followed by (OS1) Basic Training, (90 days of working in the field).
Upon completion of both (OS1) Boot Camp and Basic Training, cleaning workers can then begin to work on their certification as an (OS1) Light Specialist, Vacuum Specialist, Restroom Specialist or Utility Specialist. Each Specialist function requires the cleaning worker to pass an examination, to prove that they are proficient in each team specialist function.
(OS1) Organizational Certification – The (OS1) Audit
(OS1) organizational certification is determined by the annual (OS1) Audit criteria, on a building-to-building basis, within a cleaning organization. Currently, there are approximately 340 different factors we look at that cause any building to be clean. We audit what is going on at the actual site, as well as, the management of that site. (OS1) Green Certification Awards are presented to facilities that have submitted to the (OS1) Progress Audit and earned at least an 80% score or higher. Programs that earn a 90% or higher score, earn the (OS1) Green Certified – Program of Excellence Award. A facility that achieves this certification is successfully managing their (OS1) Program. At this level, an (OS1) organization is reducing environmental risk and the probability of unwanted effects. Specifically, (OS1) Green Certified Programs and (OS1) Green Programs of Excellence can demonstrate the following:
- Cleaning for Health first and then for appearance
- Disposing of cleaning wastes in a environmentally responsible manner
- Increased worker safety and awareness
- Increased level of sanitation of building surfaces
- Responsible and proper removal of pollutants from the facility
- Reduction of chemical, particle and moisture residue
- Minimization of human exposure to pollutants
(OS1) Users understand that good cleaning results flow from their managerial process. The (OS1) Progress Audit documents the top organizations in the cleaning industry. These organizations demonstrate leadership in operating a safer and environmentally responsible approach to cleaning. (OS1) Green Certified Program Awards are presented annually at the (OS1) Users Symposium.
